چکیده

Modeling soil erosion, sediment yield, and runoff are crucial for managing reservoir capacity, water quality, watershed productivity. However, the monitoring modeling of erosion sedimentation rates in developing countries such as Ethiopia is not well practiced; thus, capacity diminishing at faster rates. In this study, Megech watershed, Upper Blue Nile Basin, were modeled using physically-based geospatial interface, Water Erosion Prediction Project (GeoWEPP). The GoWEPP model was calibrated validated Angereb sub-watershed simulated to representative sites capture spatiotemporal variability yield watershed. parameter sensitivity analysis showed that hydraulic conductivity (Ke) all types found be dominant simulation, while rill erodibility (Kr), (Ke), critical shear stress (τc), inter (Ki) sensitive loss simulation. calibration (2000–2002) validation (2003–2004) results capability GeoWEPP model; with R2 NSE values, respectively, 0.94 calibration; 0.75 0.65 validation. general, show study varied between 10.3 t/ha/year 54.8 t/ha/year, a weighted mean value 28.57 t/ha/year. resulted higher over design basin, suggesting implementation best management practices reduce yield. Runoff and sediment yield modeling using WEPP in a semi-arid environment (Case study: Orazan Watershed)

Water erosion is a major environmental problem in many parts of the world. Majority of semi-arid countries are concerned because of their specific climate and soils sensitivity, but also because of the recent intensification of human activities and agricultural practices. Accurate estimation of water erosion for various land-use and climate scenarios is so an important key to define sustainable...

Application of GeoWEPP for Determining Sediment Yield and Runoff in the Orcan Creek Watershed in Kahramanmaras, Turkey †

The geo-spatial interface of the WEPP model called GeoWEPP uses digital geo-referenced information integrated with the most common GIS tools to predict sedimentyield and runoff. The model determines where and when the sediment yield and runoffoccurs and locates possible deposition places. In this study, the sediment yield and runofffrom Orcan Creek watershed in Kahramanmaras region was estimate...

Estimation of soil erosion and sediment yield using GIS

A Geographical Information System (GIS) based method is proposed and demonstrated for the identification of sediment source areas and the prediction of storm sediment yield from catchments. Data from the Nagwa and Karso catchments in Bihar (India) have been used. The Integrated Land and Water Information System (ILWIS) GIS package has been used for carrying out geographic analyses. An Earth Res...
